Take Advantage Of Your Location Freedom

The Top Places To Live As An Online Entrepreneur

I realize it’s been a while since I’ve written one of these, I’ve been busy managing my newfound agency and scaling my e-commerce brand. I saw that there’s 173 of you subscribed to my list with no promotion, so if you’re reading this, thank you.

It’s crazy to me that some people are still living in their hometown while making internet money. Whether you’re just getting started in your online entrepreneurship journey or you’re a bit more established, it’s a complete no-brainer to me that you should be living in one of the below cities (not an all-inclusive list):

  • Bangkok

  • Dubai

  • Bali

  • Kuala Lumpur

  • Miami

I’ve selected these locations because they have one or more of the following advantages:

  • Cost of living

  • Tax reduction

  • Networking opportunities

  • Safety

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

I personally live in Bangkok because of the incredible network of likeminded individuals on the pursuit of personal development, health, and business goals. I’ve gotten to know dozens of digital entrepreneurs in my 2 years of living here. From people just starting out to absolute killers with 8-9 figure net worth. And this is comprised of many different industries from e-com, content creation, AirBNB, agencies, trading, etc.

Being exposed to this breadth of pioneers in this digital money making renaissance is not something to take lightly. I used to live in Atlanta, and all I knew were people who worked 9-5’s and lived for the weekends. Being in this bubble stunted my life progress and I wasn’t able to flourish till moving abroad. Now I actually feel like I’m becoming the best version of myself. And you never know, that someone you know might be the final piece of the puzzle for something you’ve been working on. Many business deals and partnerships were formed over a casual dinner.

You should absolutely be arbitraging income earned in your home country and enjoying a similar quality of life where your dollar goes a lot further. For me, I’m spending $1000 a month on a luxury condo in Bangkok that would be at least 3x more in any other major city. I spend another ~$1500 monthly on living expenses comprising of food (decent restaurants + home cooked meals), going out with friends occasionally, gym membership, insurance, travel, and other misc expenses. Of course you can get by with much less, say ~$1500/month for rent and living expenses and have a decent QOL. I know my cost of living would be much greater in any other high tier city so why not use that extra capital for investing or funding business ventures?

Of course not everything is sunshine and rainbows. There are some negatives with living in Bangkok as well. The air quality can be horrendous, especially since I have sensitive lungs. A good air purifier is an essential and I choose not to go outside on the really high AQI (air quality index) days. The traffic can get exceedingly crazy during certain times of the day. There’s also a lot of degeneracy that can distract you from your mission if you’re not careful including excessive partying, girls, weed, etc. Anywhere you live is not going to be perfect but the pros should greatly outweigh the cons.

You should do your own research and find out what city works best for you. If you’re a non-US citizen making good money already, maybe Dubai is right for you. If you want a cleaner and less chaotic version of Bangkok, give Kuala Lumpur a try.

If you haven’t moved out of your hometown yet, ask yourself what’s stopping you? I know a number of motivated individuals that pulled the trigger with only a few thousand dollars, a suitcase and a dream. Trust me when I say that you’ll level up in all arenas of life (financial, health, relationships) once you surround yourself with the right people. And that in itself is priceless in my book.

Take the leap.
