9 Of My Top Books To Win At Business And Life

The more your learn, the more you earn.

Below is a list of some of the top books that I’ve read over the years with methodologies that I’ve applied to my mindset and business. I still don’t consider myself a super avid reader but I’m working on it! It’s better to find a select few books that you identify with and refer back to them multiple times rather than simply reading a large number of books just to say you did.

I first came across Naval while listening to a Joe Rogan podcast back in the day. I really resonated his stances on the importance of long-term vision, mindfulness, and freeing oneself from seeking material desires or the need for validation. There are many insightful gems about wealth, happiness, and personal growth, I highly recommend checking this book out if you haven’t already.

One of the principles from Naval’s book visualized.

This was one of the books I read while working corporate that helped to open my eyes to what a scam the “traditional way” of generating wealth is. He coins the “slow lane” approach to wealth as getting a good job, putting your money into long-term investments, and then you’ll be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor when you’re old and decrepit. Except not really when you factor in inflation. The “fast lane” method is to build a scalable business and utilize leverage to earn money while you sleep instead of trading your time for money. Great book for anyone stuck in the rat race mindset.

We as humans tend to dwell too much on the past or future. The Power of Now posits that the key to everlasting happiness and inner peace is to become fully present and to live in the now, for the now is all that we truly have. The ability to reflect on the past and to plan for the future is a blessing and a curse as the only species capable of such devices. Ruminating on what happened before causes depression and being too fixated on what will happen causes anxiety. This book was a good reminder for me as someone who did both and felt distressed more than I should’ve been.

A quote from Tolle’s book.

Although a lot of the concepts in this book were already second nature to me, it served as a good reminder that discipline > motivation. The compounding effect you get from consistency is not super palpable to our instant gratification society that we live in. This is why I come across many entrepreneurs who are also in top-notch physical shape. They realize the importance of compound interest with routines and remain relentless until they get what they want. How you do anything is how you do everything.

This book states that you shouldn’t be trying to capture market share by simply offering a lower price or adding an additional new feature. Rather, you should create your own uncontested market space through creating your own unique angle through differentiation while keeping costs low. You can examine your industry and consider the unorthodox growth strategies listed in the book to create your own blue ocean of opportunity.

Another great book with practical advice for any entrepreneur. Basically it outlines how you can craft an offer for your business so good that it would be stupid for your customer to refuse. The man built a gym consulting service that generated 9 figures in revenue and he pulls no punches in telling you how he did it. I also recommend checking out his Youtube videos.

This book is good for knowing where we are headed as a civilization so you can be better positioned for what’s to come. As history tends to repeat itself. All great empires fall eventually, and the US is no exception. Ray believes that China will be the dominant global power in the years to come. The inflation of the US dollar, the political tension between the left and the right, etc. were all indicators of the downtrends of past global superpowers such as the British empire. This video sums up the book perfectly:

Flow state is something all entrepreneurs should aspire to bring into their life if they want to crush their goals. This state of total immersion and focus in an activity will lead to higher performance and a sense of satisfaction that’s unparalleled. This book explains how to cultivate flow state in a way that’s easy to digest and I highly recommend reading this if you’re having trouble with lack of focus or passion in your life.

This book is about a man’s journey through his time as a prisoner in Auschwitz. He able to make it through the end against all odds all because of his mindset while most others perished. He argues that by having a meaning in life, you can transcend your adverse circumstances and come out as a better person in the end. Very relatable to me and probably a lot of you who had to overcome adversities and setbacks that life throws at you.

Is there anything I’m missing that I should check out? Let me know!
